RE:TRANSITION OF STATE AUDIO SERVICES -EFFECTIVE 4/1/96

Effective Monday, April 1, 1996, taping services provided through State
Audio Services wil1 be temporarily suspended as the program moves from
Edmonds Community College. The Department of General Administration,
Edmonds Community College and members of the disability community are
working cooperatively to ensure a smooth and timely transition of services
to another agency or institution by June 1, 1996. During the transition,
requests for services and inquiries about the status of the program should
be directed to Patricia McLain, P.O. Box 41000, Olympia, Washington
98504-1000, (360) 902-1210.

Begun in 1995, State Audio Services was established to provide audio
transcription and cassette duplication services to state and local
governments and institutions in support of their efforts to make
government information more accessible to people with disabilities related
to reading. Request for services have increased as word of the service has
grown. More than 2,000 tapes have been produced in support of elections,
transit services, health care, training, parking regulations and
reasonable accommodation policies.

We are proud of these accomplishments and remain committed to continuing
the services. Your patience and support are appreciated during the
transition.

cc: George Smith, Dean of Students, Edmonds Community College
Grant Fredricks, Deputy Director, Department of General
    Administration
