[Note: All information here was pulled from Impact Online's web site.]
Impact Online operates an award-winning Web site boasting information on
volunteer opportunities from around the country, in-depth profiles of
organizations such as the Points of Light Foundation and California
Commission on National Service and links to nonprofits around the world.
In addition, Impact Online's Web site features information on such social
issues as homelessness and public education and a course for nonprofits
interested in using online technology for social change.
For non-profit organizations:
Registration is free and entitles you to an instant page on our site. You
can publicize your organization's goals and list volunteer opportunities
where motivated potential volunteers will find them. If you already have a
Web site, you can create a page that links to your site, and become a part
of Impact Online's searchable database.
For individuals:
You can hook up with an organization that needs your assistance by going
to the CONNECTIONS area and searching through our database. You may even
be able to Virtual Volunteer right from your computer. And you can learn
more about the issues by reading the articles in the WORDS area.
Impact Online is a 501(c)(3), nonprofit corporation based in Palo Alto,
California, and opening an office in the Washington, D.C. area this summer
(1996).
