Subject: please help
Hi,
My name is Juliet. I am currently with Hands on Atlanta/Americorps in which
our main focus is to help strengthen communities in the Atlanta area. We
mostly do service projects around the community. There are about 130 corps
members in this summer session which runs until August 30th.
I am a 26 year old hearing impaired individual. One of the projects coming
up this summer we are starting to plan for is building a park/playground for
children with severe disablities. Does anyone know of such a park specially
designed for children with disabilites in the United States? If so, where is
it? Where would I have access to information on how it was built and what
all was involved in the building process? If anyone can help - it would
greatly be appreciated.
If there are other message board groups you could refer me to with these
questions...please email me the addresses. And...if you are a parent of a
child with a disability - what would you like to see at the park/playground
that would be best suitable for your child? I am looking to hear about any
and all disabilities in an effort to include all children with disabilites.
Any ideas would also be welcomed.
Thank you,
Juliet
