If you have a disability and want to go to work_
RCH Technical Institute (formerly the Resource Center for the Handicapped)
was created in 1980 to solve a critical community problem: extraordinarily
high unemployment for people with disabilities. For 16 years RCH has been
devoted to the development, training, employment and independence of people
with disabilities.
Jobs are where RCH begins and ends. Jobs are our focus, our commitment, our
measure of success. Recently that success has been overwhelming: 91% of our
graduates found employment; 92% in their field of training.
Our success is in well-paying technology driven careers such as Computer
Programming, Computer Networking and Information Management, Board Drafting
and Computer-Aided Drafting, General Office and Customer Service.
There is no "typical" RCH student. Our students range in age from 18 to 63.
Their disabilities range from dyslexia to quadriplegia and everything
in-between. The truth is, RCH's hands-on instruction techniques,
accelerated training, industry fed curricula and individual classroom
attention are proven methods for anyone seeking to enter or re-enter the
professional workforce in a lucrative computer-based career.
We found out long ago that the computer is the great equalizer for people
with physical impairments. Computer Programming is an excellent example of
a career that is based on abilities, not physical disabilities.
If you have computer or Internet skills now, you are well on your way. If
you don't, don't worry, over half of our successful graduates had never
turned on a computer before they attended RCH.
Accelerated Training. RCH takes what most traditional community colleges
offer in two years, and streamlines it into a one-year full time instruction
program, or what they offer in one-year and compact it into 6-months,
enabling you to get out into the workforce as soon as possible.
One-year Programs. Graduates of our one-year programs enter the workforce
with an Associates Degree of Occupational Studies. Programs include
Computing Systems Specialist, Drafting & Design Technology and Computer
Programming.
Six-Month Programs. Graduates of our six-month programs enter the workforce
with an Educational Certificate. Programs include Business Applications and
Professional Telephone Applications / Customer Service.
