In October, the SOUNDPRINT Media Center is hosting a simulcast of
radio call-in shows on public radio stations around the country, and
on the World Wide Web (WWW). Talk radio shows will be transmitted
nationwide in real time over the Internet.
Every Saturday in October at 2 PM Eastern time, listeners can hear
these call-in shows on their local stations or log on to the
SOUNDPRINT site and hear the radio shows broadcast through their
computers. With two phone lines, listeners can call in questions, and
hear the question and response on their computer.
A one-hour call-in show on learning disabilities will be
broadcast on the fourth Saturday in October (October 26) from
2-3 PM Eastern time, hosted by Derek McGinty of National Public
Radio, with guests Sally Smith, head of the Lab School in
Washington, DC and Dr. Reid Lyon of the National Institute of Child
Health and Human Development. To accompany the call-in,
SOUNDPRINT presents Johnny Can't Learn Like the Others, a
documentary that will air on public radio stations nationwide.
The program explores what researchers are learning about the neurology
of people with learning disabilities, and how perceptions of
learning-disabled kids have changed through the decades.
