In determining what your funding options are, it would be important to
know more about the child -- how old, nature of functional limitations,
whether they are on Medicaid or have private health insurance, whether
they have had an AT evaluation and whether there is anything in the
child's IEP re AT. You may be able to get this funded by the school
district but first the child would need to be evaluated to be sure that
this is the right device for him/her and that the device was needed for
the child to achieve his/her educational goals. For more information
about funding options, please call our office and ask for the WATA
publications on Funding Tips, Funding Sources, Writing Effective Letters
of Justification and Funding of Assistive Technology in Special education.
We also will be happy to answer any additional questions you may have.
Best of luck. Francie Pennell
