Board issues playground guidelines
New guidelines, issued this month by the Architectural and Transportation
Barriers Compliance Board, outline required accessibility features for new
and renovated playgrounds. The Americans with Disabilities Act includes
recreational facilities under places of public accommodation. The new
guidelines are meant to ensure children with disabilities have access to the
maximum amount of the play equipment.
